Outdoor Photoshoot with Ben Q. Photography

Know what I love? Spur of the moment-ness … pretty models … outdoor photoshoots … White Rock Lake …. BEN Q. PHOTOGRAPHY. Which is why I am so in love with this shoot! We didn’t plan it, it just came together organically, and it is so beautiful and effortless! Ben was on a quest to start working with photo film (rather than digital), so we set out to White Rock Lake with our model (the gorgeous Caressa Carter) to start shooting! Her hair and makeup was so soft, summery and subtle. The no–makeup makeup look, with an emphasis on a punchy, sweet, coral-watermelon colored lip! Enjoy!

Ashley’s simply chic wedding style :: makeup & hair

Ashley is the kind of girl that you look at and think to yourself… “She’s so cool. I wanna be friends with her.” She’s effortlessly chic, down to earth, a little boho, and just about as naturally pretty as it gets. (the kind of girl who can swipe on a little mascara and look drop dead gorgeous, sigh.) And, when she agreed to let me use a more-orange-than-coral lipstick on her for her Big Day, well … that just took it to a whole different level. I should mention that since her wedding, I’ve become totally obsessed (hehe!) with Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar). I should also mention that while Ashley’s updo was one of my favorite hairstyles I’ve done to date (golden/diamond hair accessory from White Gown Showroom), she also had a mid-reception gown change and hairstyle flip! Her glamorous waves were perfectly topped off with an chic, oversized flower comb!

Nicole’s Underwater Bridal Session with Amy Karp Photography

I love my job. Seriously. And I love being stretched and pushed creatively and professionally outside of what’s comfortable and routine. Which is why, when Nicole booked me for her wedding and then told me she wanted her makeup done for her underwater bridal photoshoot with none other than Amy Karp, my heart skipped a beat!

Wedding day waterproof is a must, obviously. But tears of joy are no comparison to an hour-long dunk in a swimming pool, so this was going to take some research and a little trial and error before our shoot! With just the right products, I was able to create Nicole’s flawless bridal look and literally sealed it in so she was free to dance and play in the water with her makeup fully in tact. Just take a look at these images. So beautiful, whimsical and vivid. So original!

Warm, natural, golden wedding makeup and romantic hair {Linda}

Meet Linda, friends! One of the sweetest brides I’ve ever worked with! She and I hit it off the moment she walked in the door and created several different looks for her bridals, boudoir session (at Nuvo Room) and her Big Day (at the Filter Building)!

For her consultation, we did a low, loose and twisted, curled, updo on the side.

At her bridals, we took the twists to the back of her head and did a style flip and took it down with beautiful tousled waves for her boudoirs.

Then, on her Big Day, we created more of a softer, low bun! Add lots of natural, soft, romantic volume on top and voila! Makeup for her bridals and boudoir was a light smokey eye and for her wedding day, we went more of  a soft, glowing, golden route. All the looks were gorgeous on her!

Intense slate grey, black and shimmery smokey eyes, fierce lashes, a full brow and a perfectly hot-pink-berry-red pout to match that out-of-this-world red hair of hers. I LOVE this look … and this sweet bride! Her wedding party was just as sweet, and totally excited about their beautiful bridesmaid looks.

{Candice} gorgeous glam wedding makeup

Say hello to my beautiful bride, Candice! For her big day  bridal style, Candice wanted flawless, glowing skin, smoldering eyes and pale pink-nude lips, a look inspired by Charlize Theron.

To give her the depth she wanted without going total smokey-eye, I used a soft taupe eyeshadow as the base and layered a sparkling mocha with hints of mauve and raspberry in the crease and corner. Tight black liner and super fierce lashes made her crystal blue eyes look even more intense! A perfectly pink pout was the finishing touch for her glamorous bridal look (she looks like a Barbie, no?)

Ashley’s vintage-chic wedding

One of the best things about my job is doing makeup for my friends’ weddings! Take my sweet friend Ashley for example: This blonde bombshell is a cowboy boot wearing, Miranda Lambert loving, southern belle that met her match in a wrangler wearing, horse riding, deer hunting cutie named Brent.

They said their “I Do’s” under the setting October sun, followed by their vintage, shabby-chic reception, all set in the hills of Conroe county right outside of Houston. Ash wanted glowing skin, peachy pink cheeks and a smokey grey eye with an emphasis on tight, black liner, drawing the focus to her beautiful, sparkling eyes!
