Happy Friday! Everyone, meet Taylor, one of my fall/winter 2013 brides who was as sweet, wonderful and lovely as she was gorgeous. She has the sparkliest eyes I’ve ever seen (so obviously we totally played those up!) and the thickest hair of all time. Ever. (I think I’ve said that before, but Taylor totally wins the prize). She wanted classic, wedding glamour so I used a smoldering grey palette on the eyes, with a neat, sharp winged liner and matte skin with big curls and the perfect little floral topper. I am loving these gorgeous engagement photos taken a few weeks ago by the ever-talented and lovely Havi Frost Photography. Thania & Miguel wanted a duel-setting shoot; something sweet and romantic and something urban and city-scape inspired. So Jen Rios Design went to work (with gorgeous floral by Wedfully Yours) in setting up two scenes at the White Rock Lake and downtown Dallas at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
Thani – whose chiseled cheekbones I raved over on Facebook and Instagram that day – (I’m convinced) were put on this earth just for my sculpting enjoyment – wanted flawless skin, dramatic eyes and structured, but not-too-perfect curls for their shoot. Enjoy!
Sweet Mila came to me wanting understated glamour and an elegant bridal look but most importantly, she wanted to look like herself. We kept her makeup really clean and fresh, adding a pop of color (purple!) on her eyes. We swept her dark silky hair up into a sleek chignon and sent her down the aisle to marry her prince charming. She treated her maid-of-honor to a day of beauty too! Enjoy!
My favorite thing about this image? Mila came to me for an appointment around 8:30AM on her wedding day … and here she is, cake cutting, late night and all, still looking just as flawless as when she left my chair early that morning!

Stop. First, can I please just point out this bride’s perfectly porcelain skin, gorgeous black hair and the most ladylike red lip I’ve ever seen a bride pull off? Lauren is the epitome of classic glam and grace. Not to mention these photos were taken by the ever-lovely, dream-to-work-with, wildly-talented Brandi Burkett of Brandi Burkett Photography. It all reminds me of a modern approach to Gone with the Wind, no? That unmistakeable southern charm it just too pretty. Enjoy!
I’ve known this gorgeous gal since we were much younger …. Lauren’s the little sister of one of my very best friends, the mayor’s daughter and the sweetest gem you’ll ever meet. We even grew up on the same street together, (I’ve spent more time of the Dean family back porch than I can account for!) so I was beyond thrilled when she asked me to do her wedding! (insert shameless plug here —–> I also planned her wedding too, through my sister company Life is Pretty, LLC).
For Marissa & Yosi’s gorgeous wedding at the Omni Fort Worth, Beauty & the Blush was booked for a full day of haute hairstyles for the bride and her maids, which made me super excited because usually I’m busy doing makeup the whole time that I don’t get any of the super-fun and creative hair action on weddings days (which is fine because I usually leave that to my curling, poufing, pinning extraordinaire assistant Linda, who totally rocks).
I absolutely love Marissa’s undone braid-into-side-ponytail goodness that totally balanced her beautiful, feminine, delicate lace gown. Her bridesmaids varied from chignons to ballerina buns and braids all around.

Pizza. Wine. Makeup. In my world, there isn’t really anything more perfect than this combo. Which is why my Pretty Party was such a fun success last Friday night in Longview!
My host asked each of our guests to bring their own their own makeup kit and a bottle of wine while she provided dinner …. we mixed, mingled and gabbed then got seated for the pretty lesson to begin! She set up 8-foot tables and had extension cords so everyone could plug in a mirror at their “station.” One of my bff’s Miki was my demo model and for two hours we talked technique, tools and how-to’s for the perfect smokey eye! We wrapped the session with a lesson in contouring and how to apply falsies! I got tons of great feedback – everyone told me how much they learned – and that’s the point! The girls asked amazing questions, took notes on their face charts and really got hands-on for the whole event! Here’s a few iPhone pictures we snapped along the way! Ten adults and two kiddos (who agreed they would totally do their makeup this way when they got older) was a great size group!
Like I said, we asked everyone to bring their own makeup bag. The point in a pretty party isn’t to make you feel totally inadequate and like you have to run out the next day and buy tons of new products and tools – the point is to teach you how to properly (and prettily) use what you already have! I make suggestions along the way for items that would be a great addition to your personal kit, especially in the tools/brushes department, but the goal is to learn how to apply the lesson to what you already own!

Shortly after being married, beautiful Beth was diagnosed with Leukemia … sending her and her new husband into a tailspin of emotions. A handful of us are so lucky to have met this amazing couple during their six-month anniversary photo shoot! I mean seriously, look at those gorgeous sparkling eyes!
